Laurie Vizzini of LViz Basketball is hosting a December basketball clinic for 5th through 8th grade girls.

The Sports Mindset Gameplan: An Athlete’s Guide to Building and Maintaining Confidence, authored by Brian Baxter of Portland’s Sports Psychology Institute Northwest, is a “perfect compliment to technical, tactical, and physical training, The Sports Mindset Gamelan will help you fine-tune the mental game to improve confidence and performance. You will learn more than just the sport psychology techniques used by elite athletes – with thought provoking focus questions and power play actions steps, you will learn more about yourself and just how mentally tough and confident you can be.”
All In One is offering drop-in options for their basketball skills clinics in December for Boys and Girls in 3rd – High School grades at both their Westside (Beaverton) and Eastside (Portland) locations. Drop in all three sessions or just one.
The AIO Pro Skills Clinic is for players who already have a good understanding of the game and want to take their game to the next level. Each player will get a chance to learn from All In One’s top AAU coaches. Fundamentals and footwork will be stressed in simulated game scenarios that allow for both skill and IQ improvement. Players will not only learn what move to use, but when and why.
Emphasized skills include:
Man Defense principles
Shooting off the dribble
Shooting off the catch
Using screens and ball picks
Attacking off the dribble
How to play in transition

The Portland Trail Blazers are hosting are Shirts and Skins Chalk Talk for youth basketball coaches at the Moda Center on Sunday, January 5th. This event is for coaches only and will feature five guest speakers along with the Trail Blazers Assistant Coach and Canadian Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Jay Triano. In addition to Jay, speakers include:
Barry Adams, Oregon High School Hall of Fame Coach (Boys)
Brad Smith, Oregon High School Hall of Fame Coach (Girls)
Tom Johnson, Barlow High School Varsity Coach
Harold Johnson, Athletic Advantage (Speed, Agility, & Injury Prevention Coach)
Registration includes a Trail Blazers ticket for the February 19th game vs. the Spurs.
“The Portland Trail Blazers will host six hoops clinics during the holiday season, each featuring Trail Blazers players. The two-hour clinics are for youth ages 6-10 or 11-14 and will be located at Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation Center in Beaverton.
Last year’s NBA Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard and Allen Crabbe will appear at two clinics on Sunday, Dec. 22. Two-time NBA All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge will be joined by Will Barton at two clinics on Friday, Dec. 27.
This year, the Trail Blazers are also offering two all-girls basketball clinics, both held on Monday, Dec. 23. NBA All-Star and first-year Trail Blazers guard Mo Williams will make an appearance at both clinics.
Admission to each clinic will include two tickets to a Trail Blazers game, selected from three options: Feb. 1 vs. Toronto, Feb. 21 vs. Utah and Feb. 26 vs. Brooklyn.
